Description
Compared with other elements of a hi-fi stereo system, the tuner is probably still the most technically complex and complex device. A tuner must be able to generate a hi-fi signal from a precisely determined millions of times per chaos in the electromagnetic frequencies surrounding it Filter out the alternating oscillation.
Listening to the radio in CD quality
Not least for this reason, the "radio" was long considered the weakest link in a hi-fi chain. Through the use of the latest technologies combined with meticulous manufacturing precision with only minimal manufacturing tolerances, we are now able to increase the playback quality of an FM tuner in such a way that it can be compared to the quality of CD and record players. We were able to take all experiences and knowledge from the development of our famous reference tuner FM-3003 into account when designing the ERGO.
A comprehensive and exact control of all functions of a tuner can only be achieved with the help of a microprocessor. In the past, however, the use of processors within a tuner often led to interference radiation and thus to a reduction in the musical qualities. In the ERGO, this problem is solved with a simple trick: the digital computer is only connected to the receiving section while the receiving frequency is changing. Only analog signals that do not cause any interference are taken into account during playback.
Best possible FM reception quality thanks to modern tuner technologies
The digital principle during tuning allows the reception frequency to be set extremely precisely. While this tuning is only possible in 100 or 50 kHz steps for inexpensive radio receivers, the step size for the ERGO is only 10 kHz. A digital tuning display makes it easier for the listener to optimally set the transmitter. With the help of the AFC function, the voting process can be automated extremely precisely if desired. Here, a digital measuring computer optimally tunes the receiver to the reception conditions.
On the ERGO tuner, two antennas can be operated simultaneously via two separate antenna inputs, with the measuring computer automatically selecting the optimal antenna depending on the specific reception conditions. The SQELCH function can adapt the basic width of the stereo reception smoothly to weaker reception conditions - up to the smooth switchover to mono reception. For further advanced functions of the tuner, please refer to the operating instructions.
The FM tuner ERGO is the product of our efforts to provide our customers with a device that leaves nothing to be desired in terms of sound and comfort.
