The new CYGNUS Quasar series isa two way full range high - end loudspeaker design in a relative compact closed enclosure. The design includes external passive crossover in a separate sealed cabinet, which is vibration free and capsuled against microphonic and electromagnetic influence. The crossover cabinet is part of the floor stand of the concept design.
In combination with the patented CYGNUS DiSUB X1 (IVT) high – end digital dipole design subwoofer this system provides best in class sonic reproduction quality. Using one of the world’s finest isodynamic planar transducers with large vibration area and wide range spectrum the sound is exceptional clear and wide with unsurpassed dynamic capability.Due to its compact design, all disadvantages of alternative large systems like horns and electrostatic concepts are eliminated.
The CYGNUS Quasar has an essentially linear phase response that provides time coherent reproduction resulting in accurate musical rhythm and imaging.
The high midrange transducer has well controlled sound dispersion in the vertical plane. This feature helps to avoid disturbing floor and ceiling reflections in a home environment thus enhancing clarity and imaging accuracy. Considering all properties it becomes clear why many critical listeners among audiophiles very highly prize planar transducers for their unsurpassed clarity, transparency and ability to deliver every tiniest musical detail.
Together with the very precise, light weight and fast response 6 inch Kevlar Cellulose membrane midrange – woofer the CYGNUS Quasar has exceptional sonic resolution and ability to reveal the dynamics of instruments and voices. Due to the deep crossover roll of between tweeter and woofer and the unique crossover design the transducer ranges of both units melts even in very low distance from the sound board. The result is unsurpassed holographic imaging combined with sharp focusing of voices and instruments with wide and deep space in all 3 dimensions. The overall frequency response in a normal living room environment is exceptional realistic and naturalism. High resolution excellent two channel and multi channel live recordings will have breathtakingly lifelike performance.
It is recommended to match the CYGNUS Quasar with finest amplifiers and cable connections available having similar properties in order to maximize overall integrity of your sound reproduction system.
The external passive crossover is assembled with the finest parts available in the market. Custom made tier value heavy foil coils, Audyn capacitors and metal film resistors, all with tiniest tolerances. Due to its acoustically decoupled extra cabinet, it is free from microphonic effects. Special customized cable connections from the network to the speaker is included and approved and part of the design. No other connections between crossover and speaker is recommended
All the enclosures are hand crafted and due to the very rigid, multiple stabilized four layer design the speaker enclosure is completelyresonance free. All custom made furnaces and lacquers even piano lacquers are available on request.
Principle und Sound philosophy of the CYGNUS Quasar-Series Loudspeakers:
The CYGNUS Quasar is a direct radiator. The 3D impulse response is optimized for exact reproduction of the first wave front which arrives the listener’s pair of ears and to reproduce rich holographic image which contains all the room information of the original event taken either in the studio or within a live performance. The crossover design is extremely loss less and tolerances between the two stereo channels are exceptional small.
The advantage of phase- and impedance linear filter design with overall 3.order Butterworth characteristics are clearly:
· Creation of phantom sound sources due to small overlapping and tiniest phase errors
· Minimal distortion and interferences
· Wide dynamic range and dramatically enhancement of electrical power handling
